Museums & Art

London has a huge collection of museums, galleries and exhibitions to visit and our hotel is situated near to all of them.

British Museum

Dedicated to human history and culture, the British Museum was established in the 18th Century. The collection held at the British Museum is the largest of its kind featuring over 8 million art works. The museum is open every day and is completely free to visit. Please see the official website if you’d like to know more.

National Portrait Gallery

Located near our Soho hotel, the National Portrait Gallery houses nearly 200,000 portraits of the most important, famous British people in history. When it opened in 1856, the National Portrait Gallery was the first in the world! The stunning gallery is free to visit but the special exhibitions charge a fee.

Natural History Museum

A particular favourite with the kids, the Natural History Museum exhibits a vast range of items and specimens of natural history around the world. The museum is especially famous for its large exhibition of dinosaur skeletons. You can go and see the 70 million items in this museum for free, but some temporary exhibitions that take place throughout the year will charge an entrance fee.  For more information, visit the Natural History Museum’s website.

Victoria & Albert Museum

The Victoria and Albert Museum calls itself the world’s greatest museum of art and design. It is the world’s largest museum of decorative arts and was named after Queen Victoria and Prince Albert. If you have a keen eye for fashion, interior design or modern art, this museum is definitely worth a visit. Even better, it is located just a short walk away from our hotels. Visit the V&A website for more.

Tate Modern & Britain

Two of the four Tate museums are located close to our London hotels. The Tate Britain is an art gallery that houses a large collection of British art, dating all the way back to the 1500s! Tate Modern focuses on art from the present day and is the most visited modern art gallery in the world! Both are free to visit and you can find further information on the official Tate website.

Science Museum

Another of London’s major museums, the Science Museum is a major tourist attraction and sees nearly 3 million visitors a year. Exhibitions here cover all areas of science and technology and have loads of interactive areas for everyone to enjoy.
